Universe is a science and experience park on the island of Als, in southern Denmark, with hundreds of interactive stations covering natural sciences, technology, and engineering. The park is divided into several themed indoor and outdoor areas, making it easy to move between hands-on experiments and open-air installations.
The park opened in 2005 under the name Danfoss Universe, drawing on the legacy of the Danfoss company, which was founded nearby and grew into one of Denmark's largest industrial groups. In 2013 it became an independent foundation and took on the shorter name it carries today.
The park takes its name from Danfoss, the industrial company born in the same region, and that connection shows throughout the exhibits. Walking through the different sections gives a real sense of how engineering and technology shaped everyday life in southern Denmark.
The park is open seasonally and is most accessible between April and October, when both indoor and outdoor areas are fully in use. Buying a ticket in advance online helps avoid queues at the entrance, especially on busy summer days.
The Science Circus program features live demonstrations with fire and liquid nitrogen performed in front of an audience, making chemical reactions visible in real time. The format is closer to a stage show than a classroom, which tends to leave a strong impression on younger visitors especially.
